August 2007 MLS Newsletter

Good Day! Each of you will soon need a SAFEMLS device in order to access the MLS database. As you know from previous bulletins and newsletters the week of August 27th is when the tokens will be issued. Each person who is qualified to use MLS data will need one of the devices that generates a new password each time you need to access the database. After the devices are issued the old passwords will be inactivated and will no longer work. All devices MUST be picked up in person. They will not be mailed or issued to you with someone else standing in for you. You may be asked to show a photo ID at your appointment if the person issuing your device does not personally know you. The appointments are all scheduled and the schedules are posted on our website. They are also being mailed to each Participant for posting in your firms. Make-up sessions are also according to a schedule. Please see the schedule and mark your day timer program and calendars so that you do not miss your scheduled appointment. We have over 1100 people to train and issue devices to in three days so we cannot “play with” the schedule. Do not ask for a different time. Work through your Participant as each Participant has been issued two times for their Firm. If you are on vacation, in surgery, having a baby, or getting married that week please send Jayne an email with your circumstances stated so that we can take care of you upon your return to work. Thank you....

NMAR is the parent corporation and your MLS is a wholly owned subsidiary. NMAR is a not-for-profit and the MLS is a for profit. To ensure the not-for-profit status of NMAR the separation of services and programs is a “must do.” Although your leadership has done a great job of this over the years, other associations across the country have lost their not-for-profit status and are paying taxes.
